Not sure, maybe if you install tomtom home on your PC and connect it up it will restore what is needed? I know with my tomtom if I were to wipe the device and dock, tomtom home would set it up again but that's on the basis it is installed already....worth a shot though I'd say!
Cracking maps etc and copying them onto a device is possible but it's complicated and I am not the best teacher....visit
