I never trust the online comparison sites and always ring the best priced one to be sure they're happy with the details and that I'm happy with them. Bit paranoid possibly but with accidents and other oddities you want a clear situation should you need to claim. You don't want to find out too late that you're not covered.

I would not be surprised if the situation Tim saw here was indeed a hook, just to get the incoming call. Many industries do it - employment agencies have that "perfect" job in the window but once you're talking to them it has "already gone" for instance.
