Check the lever that is fitted is the correct one for the master cylinder and if possible is an OEM item as some pattern levers dont have the correct length of pin that pushes against the master cylinder, therefore giving the wrong amount of travel.
Braided lines would help, how old are the stock lines?.
Bleeding the brakes and master cylinder, that master cylinder has a bleed nipple on it to do that.
If you have brought the master cylinder second hand it could be worn, you can buy overhaul kits from Suzuki but generally the bore wears on them slightly.
