Triumph have a very different audience now than they did when they launched the 1050 engine. I think a sports bike would sell if they pitched it as a sports bike for the road and made it really usable, because Triumph owners by and large are not interested in the race for the biggest horsepower, or the most advanced electronics, or the best WSB pedigree. Those people buy S1000RR's and the like. Most manufacturers have a sports bike and a derivative naked 'ala' Tuono. Triumph have the naked and no sports bike.
