520 is lighter and has less surface area so less friction, I run a 520 on my trackbike without any issues. I also run a Heavy duty chain which has no O / X rings so the drive is more direct without the squishyness the O / X rings give. Great for the track with no road crap flying flying around not so good on the road.
I run one tooth less on the front (= 3 on rear) it means you dont have a great bit sprocket on the rear I have noticed no significant wear on the sprocket, chain, gearbox output shaft using this method even after around 25 days on track (also ran a ZXR400 with this setup and no detrimental effects either).
One tooth less on the front give you alot more punt out of the corners but the straights suffer with a lower top end.
My road SV also runs a 520 chain but with O ring chain and 1 tooth off front but it hasnt been on long enough to provide a full evaluation
