instant metal is good stuff and you could use it if all surfaces are indeed clean and free from grease. problem is it flows to well. i suppose if you created a bung to make sure that the instant metal could not flow into the recess for the pin then all should be fine.

personally if it were me i would look for a mechanical approach to the fix and would tap the ends then insert a suitable bolt (stub) so to gain access at a later date if needed. even a grub screw would do the job if it were threadlocked properly. the easiest would be to drill a small hole in the pin and insert an R clip on the other end.
