the SV engine isn't a particularly sophisticated engine, any bike semi synthetic 10w40 will do, spending more on top notch oil is wasted really, I used Halfords or Hein Gerike bike oil with no problem for 153,000 miles in mine.

oil filter I used most was the Hiflo HF138 or Champion K301
