However if it is burning a little too much you need to diagnose it properly first otherwise you'll be wasting your time replacing things that don't need it. First off is a compression and then leak down this is a good place to start when looking for engine trouble like burning oil. Should give you a good idea of the condition of the rings and the valve seals.

do you know what sort of values it should be in, how much leakage is ok ?? also how is this done. Is it done from spark plug ?? just basically a compression test of the engine ??
