Default Decent rear shock for curvy

So the shock that was on there was from an 04 zx636 - I got that and the new zx6r shock on eBay - to be honest I've been very lucky with prices each time.

In case anyone searches for this in the future the 09 zx6r shock fits fine however the reservoir on this model kicks out towards the left of the bike when fitted (towards the gear lever side). This means that I had to cut down the front seat mounting point on that side (only a little - it still functions) and cut more away from the undertray. On an sk2 the loom is clipped to the bottom of the front seat mount so that also needs to be rerouted slightly.

Note that I already cut down the fuel tank hinge/bracket thing and the base on the battery box when fitting the 636 shock but if not done already I suspect this would have been needed too. The reservoir forces the battery higher but a stock battery will fit if placed on its side and a slight bit of material removed from the base of the front seat (again I had already done this).

I haven't ridden it yet (am doing valve clearances at the same time) but I have no reason not to think that it will be a huge improvement over the stock shock (as was the 636 shock)

Cheers James
