Things are breaking faster than I can fix them. First the washing machine dampers, second was the CD player (couldn't fix that), third was my new air fryer (now awaiting parts) now it's the turn of the microwave.

It's a Panasonic microwave (must be over 15 years old) and the door latch stopped latching because the spring anchor failed. I drilled the side of the door which is in the shadow of the metal chassis when closed - so no microwave leakage (I hope) and screwed in a tiny self tapper to act as a new anchor. It has fixed the problem for now, the door latches firmly, engages the microswitch and allows power but I may revisit it because my fix entails the spring having a 90° twist which won't be good for longevity (although how much longer will a 15 year plus microwave last anyway?).
