In summary:
The fact that less people are being breathalised has nothing to do with the increase in people drink driving
Rather than increasing this we should have more cameras (Can someone please explain how secret camera's are going to catch these people?)
I have never drunk and drove in my life, and yet the saftey brigade are going to make me breath into a tube each time I get into the car before it will start. Way to make an honest guy feel like a criminal!
Why Not Instead:
Increase the number of tests to make people afraid of being caught again?
Fit these breathing tubes to convicted drink drivers cars for a fixed length of time? So by the end of it it's second nature not to do it!
Make the penaties harsher - if your caught twice bye bye license for good? I know of (friend of brother in laws) who got caught and had to do an alcohol saftey course. He did this. he was caught again. He did another course ('cause it obviously worked so well...). At the end of the course just before they handed him his license back they asked so are you going to do it again? His reponse 'yes'. There response to that: Here's your license.
Sorry needed a bit of a rant there...
