Is it compariable to the gel seat for rider comfort ? sorry, can't answer this as i've never tried a gel seat. I can say I had no bum problems on the ride out weekend, and i'm guessing i covered over 500 miles. I actually forget about the seat, which must mean its pretty good
Does it make any difference to the leg reach (is it wider than the stock unit) ? compared to the stock SV seat, its seems narrower, taller and has a more rounded profile. Any difference to leg reach is slight, although my pillion says that she seems to sit higher (or me lower)
I know you got yours 2nd hand, but do you think it's worth the money for a new one ? not sure of cost, i bought it for my pillion really, but yes it probably is worth it if you have any problems with stock seats
Is it the "Comfort" or the "Seatster" ? Fairly sure its the seatster

Thanks for your help so far....

.
As far as position is concerned, i can't slide my bum quite as far back as i could on the stock seat, so it tends to support you in a less focused position. I can still tuck in on motorways etc. Also if you slide your bum around in corners etc, it makes this more difficult as its not as slippy as stock.

The SV650 felt a bit cramped 2-up on long journeys. Not sure how the 1000 compares, but i'd imagine the sports tourers have more pillion space. Depends on budget, but the VFR or Sprint ST are probably better for the job. I've never ridden any so my opinion counts for nothing but if you test ride these i'd be interested in hearing your opinions.

oh, last point is that the fit is just slightly less than perfect right at the back of the seat. It exposes a couple of holes at the base of the grab handle that i think the stock seat covers. Not had any problems with rain ingress so far.
