I beg to differ on that one mate. I've got a ZX636 shock fitted, yes the battery box needed a little trimming, and the battery is still under the front seat. It is not completely upright but fits nicely on top of a little platform, keeping it off the shock resevoir.
Alternatively, a battery from an R1 will fit in the original battery position as it is a thinner battery.
