If you buying a CAT D to keep it's worth it, in a few years time even bikes that havn't been written off won't be worth much so a cat D won't be worth a lot less, it would probably be the same. I bought back my damaged repairable CBR 400rr years ago and it served me very well!
Bargains can be had because Cat D's are for some reason looked down on, even though there is rarely anything wrong with them ( I heard of a 3 month old Harley being written off because the starter motor got water in it from a big puddle and wouldn't start! ) if there is nothing wrong with the bike then the cat D label means nothing andyou shouldn;t worry about it.
