Emm. Well, New Orleans happened because it was New Orleans. People were warned that it was likely that this would happen. People were warned that if you continued to get rid of this swamp buffering area, not re-enforce the levys and do various other things, it would happen.

The US Govt took the gamble to not do this, to defer doing this to the next administration. This gamble did not pay off.

I am not saying that London is immune to hurricanes. But, London / Dublin / most cities are not N.O. Thankfully.
The key word here is 'If' I know it's not likely and the flooding would be different, but I know 'if' I was in the New Orleans area and likely to suffer the same fate I'd say go ahead and try to disrupt the hurricane.
