I just don't understand that statement, I mean it almost sounds as if you're making an excuse for having an SV...
You don't have to ride an IL4 over 10k to go anywhere, and if you're as experienced with IL4's as you say you are you'd know that. I could ride my GSXR600 around all day at under 8k, and keep up with any SV650, it's just a case of learning to ride it properly. They make a great sound with a decent can, different from a twin, but still good none the less.
The great asset with a middlewight IL4 is that you do have the extra power there if/when you want it, but that doesn't mean that you HAVE to ride it like that ALL the time.
I think what you're trying to say is that the "lumpy & ploddy" vee twin suits your lazy riding style, which is fine. But it doesn't mean that IL4's are a worse bike.

FFS lets all agree to disagree I can see both sides of the argument as have owned all types of bikes (except a 4 stroke triple (yet) ) and they all differ in mannerisms and handling.
i for one like lazy low down grunt (but that dont stop me reving the @rse out of my bike ) and likewise i have enjoyed the heady buzz from singing at 14,000 rpm.
all different but all fun nontheless . maybe it's an age thing but i now prefer the thump thump thump instead of the vrrrmmm vrrrrmmm vrrmmmm .
especially my mates new r6 that sounds like an angry wasp on full chat.
