Its unusual to have a ‘squared off’ front tyre, the tread is just normally angled due to braking. Also the wear is normally just either side of centre (again due to the tyre being squished under breaking). This is unless you spend all your life on the motorway and squaring of the front is possible
Anyhow, back to your initial question … any loss of profile with the front or rear tyre can cause handling characteristics like you have mentioned. If the tyre is to be replaced anyhow, then put no more thought into it
