The axle isn't threaded on both ends unless it is different from the 2016 models. (unlikely). The parts diagram I showed was from a 2017 model. It is a hollow bolt, the thread/nut is on the left hand side (the chain side), the other side (exhaust side) is simply the head of the axle bolt which has a hole in it (You made me go and look and it's raining!).
I also looked on the SuzukiPartsHouse website (a US site) and it shows the same as the UK.
