Default Re: Noisy Cam chain?

Spring was removed before unbolting the tensioner, so it was definitely fully extended before touching it.

I actually manually pushed to guide/blade whatever its called when I had the tensioner it out, emulating the job of the tensioner. Couldn't feel any sort of resistance that would be expected from taking up chain slack. pushed all the way until it hit a solid stop without any feeling of gradual tension. no idea what it stops against. But it's safe to say that given my tensioner is good, engine noise is definitely not right. It must certainly be a chain issue. Either way so far I've had a quote of £400 to do the lot.

Only problem is I can't get the bike in for another 4 weeks. all mechanics seem to be very busy this time of year.

Now i'm up at 5am for a 1.5 hour commute to work and 1.5 hour commute back via bus! back at 8pm.

I'm knackered. need this sorted ASAP.
