If you are sure the engine wasn't abused before you got it assuming you got it 2nd hand or from new and the rest of the engine is secure then I'd say repair it as at least you know the work has been done and hopefully correct.
I wish I had done this work on mine,but glad I haven't had to as I would gladly ride over and help but as stated I have not so don't have the experience on these engines.The engine in my Avatar was one of many Honda CX500 engine rebuilds that I've done for myself over the the years from the Crank-Shaft up.
However as there are plenty of SV650s with well over your mileage and even some with over 100,000 miles on the original Cam-Chain etc it just makes me wonder why it's gone
Do you know any other bikers who might be able to help or point you to a decent fixer?
