That was after police were alerted by the club he was a member of as to his unsuitability to own guns, the firearms officer also recommending he should not have his certificate renewed and yet all this was overruled by someone higher up... we have checks and gun crime (legal) is very rare in this country. Dunblane was over 20 years ago, and Cumbria nearly 10 years ago.
Alas, certain people will find a way to harm other people with whatever is at their disposal. You cannot legislate away ALL things capable of being used in wrongdoing.
