Default Re: Best route to devils bridge from manchester

I will give you a slightly different route to Pete as I hate the A65.

Once you cross the Ribble heading into Ribchester, the first right (Gallows Lane) I think is the route upto Hurst Green and heading to Clitheroe (Petes Route). Instead take the next right (Stoneygate Lane) about 500 yards on. When you get to the Hurst Green road, Go straight accoss (it is an old roman road) over Jeffery Hill.

Once over the hill you can turn left and go through Thornley, skirt Longridge turn Right at the Alston Arms and though Inglewhite, Claughton on Brock, to Oakenclough. Over Bleasdale with a good view of Morecambe Bay over Quernmore Hee Hee Hee to Caton.

If you however turn right. follow the road to the T Junction. where you need to turn left and then next right. Up though the Duchy estate (Inn at Whitewell always good for a stop off) past Dunsop Bridge (Stay left) to Quernmore. turn right and over to Caton.

Once at Caton. Ignore instinct. turn LEFT towards Lancaster then RIGHT over the Crook O Lune Bridge. Next Right and up to the Kirby Lonsdale road, Turn right. Eventually you come to a T junction right again and it is straight upto Kirby Lonsdale, going through Arkholme etc.

Will try to publish a map or two.

OK try route 1
Route 2
