Nobody mentioned handguns but since you have any serious terrorists wouldn't bother with handguns, Uzi, AK47 and hand grenades are their chosen tools.
You can still get rifles ( not semi or fully automatic ) and shotguns in UK without too many problems, it is just concealed weapons, IIRC you need a licence to carry a handgun / concealed weapon in most states of USA. .
