I said this time of year. Unfortunately this time of year is about to end when the clocks change, likely a temperature that gets properly cold instead of just cooler, and then the dampness and rain will kick in too. Not keen on all that. September, October are usually good though.
I've often thought it's the rain and damp that makes the UK feel colder. I lived in New Jersey (USA) for a while and while the temperatures were way colder than it ever gets here in the winter, it was a dry cold that didn't work it's way into your bones.
