Could be, but the sag is about 25mm so I guess it can't be far off. The sag was measured by a 9 year old though, so it might not be too accurate! It felt fine to me, no problems with running wide, but I guess with the problem sorted I might be able to get on the power earlier and harder.

I'm fairly sure the problem is rear and the damage is being caused coming out of the corners, as the worse wear is about halfway between the middle and the edge of the tyre, so the bit of the tyre that is in contact putting the power down on the exit.
