3 in 1 Silicone lubricant is the dogs for certain tasks! I'm on 2 tins a week now, & haven't needed to see a counsellor yet.

As Embee says, it's better on plastic & rubber components, such as; Tank rubbers, & sidepanel grommets. I find it particularly useful on cables, & for rubbing down pitted fork stanchions with 1200 wet & dry.
It doesn't work very well as a penetrant, this is where as Yorkie says a good penetrating oil is better.
