Default Re: Noisy Cam chain?

Thanks for opinion. I just don't know if the video does the noise justice. I mean, the end can has no baffle so it's loud. And at idle, the cam noise is way more noticeable than the exhaust. It maybe gets a bit quieter when warm but other than that, it's always very noticeable.

I can't hear anything but my exhaust when i'm on the throttle but I assume thats because I'm pulling cam chain tight with load?

It just worries me because the tapping of the cam chain was not noticeable maybe 5k miles ago. If it was purely because of how it's built, you'd expect this noise to have always been the case.

Something must have changed.

I have to mention I had the Curvy before this with the same noise occurring at the front cylinder and it ran for another 10k (Before it got stolen).

I just don't want a catastrophic failure happening.

I could go to someone for a full strip and search and they may find nothing, but I'd be out of pocket money wise.

mechanic suggested changing to manual tensioner, but in all honesty I'd rather not push limits of the chain.
