Sounds like a good idea, but I don't really know any good local routes.
If I am not busy I am usually up for mooching round on the bike - and yeah two hours might be better.
I'm about 1/2 hours ride from boxhill, but like Tony, it takes me a while to get all me gear on and get out the door, but I'm allowed being female and all, whats your excuse Tony
