Default Fitting a USB power socket

Hi all,

I've got a 12V USB socket that I plan to fit to my '08MY SV650S. The unit has 2 x 2.1A USB ports and I have found a suitable position in the fairing to cut out the required 28mm hole.

I think that the simplest fitting option would be to run cables directly to and from the battery, with an in-line fuse (5A? Can anyone advise here, too?) and a switch to turn off power when not in use, although I could probably leave it permanently live.

The alternative would be to wire it to the ignition switch, which would also turn off power when the key is out. If I choose that option, can anyone tell me which wire/wires I need to tap in to?

Thanks.
