The insult of a £3k trade-in on an AL7 will be as nothing compared to the trade-in on an Interceptor in a couple of years' time if they prove to have similar reliability as the bullets.
The Himalayan is better now that the initial wrinkles have been ironed out, but I would definitely counsel against an RE 650 twin till they've been on the market for a while.
If you want retro looks, air cooled simplicity, ABS, top notch build quality and proven reliability, a used Honda CB1100 would probably be a smarter bet than an Interceptor.

I do like them but thought an 1100 for weekend blasts was a bit OTT.........but maybe not.
