Default Random Thought

Been pondering this for all of 2 mins:

You know how in the US everyone calls the president and ex-presidents as "Mr President" to them in person.

However, if I (being a British Citizen) met Barack Obama or George Bush etc. would I have to refer to them in the same manner?

Just read in an article a whilde back about George Bush getting ****y because someone didn't call him "Mr President" which left me thinking "Do you have to if you're not a US citizen?"
