Thought i'd post this up for anyone who trailers their bike to trackdays,on holiday, etc
Not the cheapest solution to tying your bike down by any means but quickest and simplest. And that was what I was after. After a couple of trackdays last year I noticed some rubbing of the paint on the fairings from ordinary ratchet straps + it cracked a tiny piece
Thats the tyre down, 2 steel plates going into a heavy duty ratchet either side. Clamps over the rear tyre, doesnt touch the bikes suspension and is really solid. 2bh I went home from oulton park last week with just this over the back tyre, bike didnt move an inch the 40 odd miles home over some bumpy country roads. Mine was ready to go in 2 mins and then I helped out 2 blokes with loading and strapping down their bikes, all the while trying not to look smug
For complete piece of mind though I use the moto cinch too.
The "boot" goes over your footpeg and attaches to the runner you attach to the trailer bed.
Simply pull up on the handle and the bike is locked in place. Puts a moderate amount of pressure on the rear shock and none on the front, so saves your seals
the black strap goes over the handle to ensure it cant undo and the red strap goes through any solid piece of the bike and into a clasp for a little extra security
How it looks
Safe as houses
I can now drive without constantly checking in my mirror every minute to make sure my bike hasnt taken the guy out behind me.
RRP of the moto cinch is £95 so pricey I know. I got a tenner knocked off by a seller on ebay but he doesnt seem to be selling them anymore. Official distributor might be the only way.
Tyre down retails for £70 but I got a 2nd hand one off ebay for £42
so always worth keeping an eye out if you fancy 1
