If you have the same Tokico twin-piston sliding pin calipers on the front that I have on my 2017, the pistons are stainless so while they will get mucky, they won't corrode and get pitted (unlike the Gen 2 bikes).
If you're replacing the pads I would unbolt the caliper carrier from the fork legs and check the sliding pins are greased, and the rubber protective boots are not split. Use proper silicone brake grease on the pins, not copper grease, and don't use too much - just a smear round on each pin.
