Went for a jaunt today and ended up at an airfield cafe that rang a bell. Realised after a while it was the same place Daddyjob took us too on a rideout some four or five years ago. It was Wellesbourne Airfield in Warwickshire and the Touchdown Cafe. Last time we were there I recall looking down the far end of the field (without my glasses on - twerp!) and seeing something vaguely resembling a Vulcan. Well, today I had my glasses on and, yep, it's a Vulcan!
As it was a Saturday you can go and see it it (we were there on a Sunday last time) so I popped in. What a sight when you're right underneath it, looking up into the bomb bay that in the past held a nuke. They do organised visits where they show you around and I took the card for the co-ordinator. If there's enough interest then perhaps we can have a run out there.
In the mean time here is their
website. And to whet your appetite I did of course bag a quick pic while I was there.
