I paid 2300 for my 53 reg bike 6 months ago from a bike shop so 2k sounds fair for a private sale. Thing is there are several around. Look at banjos bike cos that is awesome.

It's not a private sale though - he's a trader so should give give you more protection.
Nearly bought a bike from this guy - I think he prices his bike fairly cheap.
If you're sure it is HPI clear I would go for it and quickly before you lose it.
(You can always hpi it after as he has made that a condition of sale.)
