Default K&N Air filter

Just wondering whether this filter would improve performance, but would it also help engine maintenance?

It's negligible, New air filters lean out your fueling, you'll need to rejet, it'll cost you money.

Rejet on an FI engine??

I got a new filter last week for my 2006 pointy. Due to mileage I service every 6-8 weeks and having a million mile warranty air filter that only needs cleaning every 50,000 miles is the attraction for me, as it will pay for itself (compared to buying replacement air filters) in a short time.

The K&N filter doesn't flow much better than the OEM one, it's biggest selling point is it is washable. I doubt you would need to either rejet or remap your fuelling to suit a K&N.

Nah, it's the same as replacing a standard air filter.
