Default List me your new bikes good for a newcomer

A bit out of the loop of late on road bikes, have a friend doing direct access and will be helping to think about what might be a good bike. It's a she, but a normal size person so short leg options etc not an issue. No get something small and build up advice etc, just what is a good bike suitable including insurance cost wise for a new rider.

Let me know your ideas, with a pic if pos and then I can show her.

I will kick off with the BMW F800ST

And the F800R

And the F650GS

There, that's the extent of my current knowledge

SV650
Hornet 600
Bandit 650
GSXF600
Street Triple 675

I'd recommend any of the above and have ridden them all.

She must have a bob or two to be looking at Beemers so.....

Aprilia Shiver 750

Moto Guzzi V7 Classic/Cafe

Ducati Monster 696

Triumph Street Triple 675

..... all cost a fortune WHEN she drops it though.

well apart from the obvious high costs of the BMW's the first generation of F800's had shocking ABS, I don't know whether that has been sorted, but wouldn't advise a new rider to get one, but generally "friendly bikes" would be ( and I presume no power restriction and over 600cc here ?)...

Er6 (or the tall version)
then the standard roadsters
bandit,fazer,hornet,
the new GSXF is a nice compromise between sport and roadster if you're not keen on an SV (atlhough the older "tea pot" is good value)
Suzuki GSR
Honda trans alp
Aprilia Pegaso, (good town bike)
Aprillia Shiva
Gladius

the list could go on and on; to be honest as the critiria is a little loose

cheers Mark.

Hmmm.............I'm not sure. It would have to be really cheap and probably won't be. For similar money you could get a much more fun bike as already mentioned. Not a terrible choice for a total beginner but probably lacking in the fun department when the riders skills improve.
