Default running poorly

hi

today on the way to work on me 99 curvy she started to cough and splutter like it was out of fuel! so i got to the hard shoulder quick and stopped but it kept running so i just gave it a hugh hand full just to push any crap blocking the jets flush through and after that is seemed to be ok but it now backfires quite a bit with hugh bangs!

and on the way home it feels a bit hesitant i was in 5 and the bike would not go past 7000 rpm! and slowly starts to dip in revs but it dos want to cut out!

i had the tank and airbox off the other day sorting my choke out! how can i make sure the airbox is back on properly? also where do the two hoses from the left of airbox go?

help needed

many thanks

matt

You did the chokes? So they are not sticking and the cables are free.Could be an air leak where the airbox hasnt sealed properly back on the carbs,or the two pipes you mention. They sound like the crankcase breathers which should be attached to the crankcases.

Someone has mentioned about the foam under the tank coming loose and blocking the air intake? Is this maybe happening?

Sounds like it's running too rich. Have a look at the plugs. Could be as simple as a sticky choke.

It's not the SV's old party trick of misfiring due to moisture in the plug top is it?

No you have 2 pipes which go to the engine on the LHS. One front right which just dangles off with a stopper in the end.
