You'll need either a suzuki 33bhp ECU or a washer-type restrictor kit. The ECU is better for the bike and fuel economy and most likely easier to find than a washer kit. Post a thread in the wanted section, I'm sure someone will have one. Expect to pay £40-£50 for it. A new washer restriction kit is around £200 so it's peanuts in comparison.
Make sure you get an ECU from a K3-K6 model as they changed from the K7 onwards, and if you do happen to go the washer route, don't get a set from the 99-02 SV as they won't fit. |

I picked up a K3 restricted ECU on E-Bay for sixteen quid a while back, plugged straight in and the engine still sounds nice. Spoke to a few bods about what to do next and no one seemed to be worried. I just have to report it to the Insurance company when I am ready to ride it and tell them it has a 33BHP restriction. Nice and easy.

Sorry to ask a question on your thread romlin but it is related I promise
![]() Do you need any documentation or certificates to show it has been properly fitted or are they fine with your fitting it by yourself? |

I guess if one insurance company wants paperwork that's going to cost you £hundresds to provide and another doesn't, just factor that into comparing premiums. |

i fitted the washer kit to my sons curvy 650 4 years ago, the kit was about £60 , when you do the insurance quote, fill in the bit that asks if the bike has been modified with.. yes. the thread then gives you options as to which mod.
tick the less than 40 bhp box and then carry on with quote. that was with ebike who we both still use. |

Check with your insurers about the documentation.
Best bet I found was to ring around.
