Default Troubleshooting Fuel Light?

Herro

So today I remembered my fuel light didnt work as my bike started coughing on the motorway (during an overtake no less!)

Managed to get past and onto hard shoulder safely luckily enough. Went for hazards and realised I dont have any

There was no light at all, solid or flashing. Hoping its just something that has become disconnected/loose.

Where would be the best place to start looking?

Bulb, wiring, sensor, in that order.

Ohh herro

I don't think you should fix it, mine doesn't work either. We could make a game out of it when we're in Scotland

Do you not reset yout trip meter every fill up, and leave that showing all the time?

Thanks mate, that makes sense. If I had a brain I'd be quite dangerous.

Are the bulbs easy to get hold of, i.e something halfords would stuck?

Ok fine, but if I lose, you can push the bike!

Yes I do this. However I neglected to check the amount of miles I had done, got a bit carried away Had to scrub in the new rear properly and all that. Was quite surprised to see my chicken strips are non-existent on both sides already!

Bloody hooligan.

They're the weeny capless ones - about 1.5/2W or something like that. From memory the same ones as the clock lights - swap them over to check the bulb perhaps.

Hmmm... Good question. If they are the same they're like the ones in this thread:

Linky.

Scroll down a bit and there's a pic, post 10.
