Hi All,
A accident had to happen at some point and it did tonight, not hurt other than a sore right hip but am P'ed off more than anything. I was filtering past queue traffic on a 30mph main road, nothing coming the other way, doing about 20mph. As I was approaching where there was a junction on the left, a car pulled out from a side road (leading to shops and parking) through a gap in the traffic ahead of me. At this point I put on the brakes fairly hard to stop hitting her and lost grip on the front, eventually losing the bike altogether at maybe 10mph and slided to a halt just before the front right corner bumper of the car. I think she was 100% at fault as I was on the main road and she wasn't showing due care and attention pulling out in front of me without checking first. What do you think? Unfortunately by the time I had got the bike safely off the road any witnesses had driven off ![]() The bike is an L0 SV Sport and has mostly superficial damage to the right hand side, such as scratched fairing panels, brake lever, exhaust and has a broken rear brake lever and bend foot peg. I managed to ride it home the 1 mile or so just fine...but it obviously needs fully checking out I guess I'll be getting in touch with the insurance company tomorrow about getting it recovered for fixing up and putting the claim details in.....fingers crossed they all see it how I do as I have no witnesses...

Glad your ok.
If it's superficial its probably not worth going through your insurance. Your premium will just double, it will most likely go 50/50 and it will take years to come to that outcome ![]()

You think it's not worth it? The cost of getting the bike back to a new state will bit considerable and I wanted to trade in at the end of the year.... How much value is lost to superficial scratches I wonder? I should have got a signed statement from the driver and a blinking witness....live and learn

Hope you get it all sorted and consider getting a consultation with a bike specific solicitor as you will want someone who does not just say 50/50 as you were filtering. Good luck, and i feel your pain. |

Otherwise the time it takes and insurance premium increase may not be worth it. My girlfriend didn't even claim off her insurance, but notified them of the incident, that was 100% not her fault as it was parked up... insurance when up £300. I traded in my 600rr last year I owned it 3 years from new, crashed it at speed, the clutch lever was scratched, the swingarm scuffed and engine cases both sides scratched a bit. They still offered me really good money.

Much the same thing for you then? I wasn't sure what your accident was from...What did you end up going? I know you are selling off scratched panels etc so did you just sort it all out yourself sourcing parts the best you could ot did you win your claim?

Nah, chalk it up to experience. They'll f*** you next year even for a non-fault claim.
