Did it run OK last time you used it?
Did it start like normal last time/recently? Has it done anything odd in recent times? Does it turn over but not run, or does it do nothing at all? Are the lights in the clocks on as usual, or are the electrics completely non functional? Now I know what bike you have, but you're not making it easy for anyone else Pete ![]()

Hok Ian - youre right ...its a ZX6R G1 , it ran perfick on Monday. It usually fires up ok , it caught twice but i couldnt keep it going and then the battery started to die...the electrics are fine but i have noticed turning the lights off before hitting the start button helps every time...
thing is, its going to be another cold night tonight, so even if i manage to get the seat off and charge the battery, im still concerned tomorrow will be same...only thing i can do is spray WD40 on the engine and electrics and hope for the best ! |

Well the battery is obviously a bit low, first charge it and see if it starts then, if it does either the battery itself is goosed or it's not charging.

Usual crap with standing them, water in the carbs, muck in fuel filter, water in electrics, anything sticky or gunked up.

What for? If Lord Squidly cannot help you what good are the rest of us???
If it makes you feel better I had the same problem a few bikes ago. The battery was old and could not keep it's charge any more when it was cold. See, I've added nothing...

It sounds like you potentially have 2 problems, firstly, the dead battery, are you getting sufficient charging voltage accross the battery now? if not then you need to look at the charging system. if the battery is getting sufficient voltage then you probably need to replace the battery unless you just left the lights on or something and the battery ran flat.
Also sounds like you have a fueling issue if it was coughing and spluttering until you put it on reserve. check fuel lines etc. If you take it back off reserve does the spluttering start again? |

yea but i dont think my battery is dead - its only been in there for 5 years , its made by Varta , its too big for its boots / box under the seat so i think its over powered ....slightly .....
no sah ! i think the prob lies elsewhere - carb icing ? that kinda thing on a cold morn... ![]() |
