Default Another theft attempt!

So the never ending stream of crap that seems to be haunting my biking career at the moment continues! So far it goes:

  • Pass bike test =
  • Purchase SV 650 =
  • Break down within half and hour of purchase =
  • 8 hours to get home on back of recovery van =
  • Fix bike =
  • Bike gets broken into and costs £200 and 6 hours graft to repair =
  • Get knocked off bike by some complete idiot doing U-turn on dual carriage way =
  • Get crappy hire bike =
  • Finally/hopefully finally, found out this morning, someone tries to steal hire bike! =

Fortunately the hire bike is fine (as the £250 excess is my responsibility), the total ~$%"ers have just ripped my oxford stormex cover to have a look inside. I presume the huge chain on the front wheel and large metal bar locked on the back wheel put them off.....but you can see them without having to even move the cover. Proving that these theives are complete and utter MORONS!

Ok, rant over. The unfortunate thing is I think this is going to be the end of my biking until I get a place with a garage.........

Bristol.....not a particularly bad part of Bristol either....I just don't understand the mentality of these £&$%ers!

I wouldn't even dream of ever damaging anyone's bike or car. These theives faces on the other hand.....

I'm in Southville mate. I'd seriously consider looking around for a garage you can get your bike in or at least try and get it on your front/back garden. This is the second attempted theft on my bike(s) in as many months.

Sorry to hear your bike been done again, thieving scrotes. Is building a small shed not an option as it could be cheaper than your excess.

I luckily do have an offstreet garage which is right outside my window and my bike has a spyball alarm what makes a hell of a noise if someone touches it but im only renting and might not be so lucky next year or when leaving it out and about. Need to wire up a smoke machine to the alarm and change the sound to one of the old air raid horns. That would put them off

Fortunately the bike hasn't been damaged. It's the hire bike that I've got at the moment (due to the crash). I've rung the hire company and told them to come and pick it up as I can't afford the excess if it gets knicked. They fobbed me off the first few phone calls as I just said I'd like to give the bike back - "yes sir, we'll call you back when the chap you need to speak to is off the phone", 2 hours later no phone call. I rung back "I'd like to give the bike back as someone has tried to nick it" "Oh yes sir, we'll pick it up first thing tomorrow!".

Fingers crossed it doesn't dissappear tonight! Just a bit fed up as due to the help of theives and awful car drivers I now have a broken ankle, no motorbike and a torn bike cover.....

I'm afraid a shed isn't really an option....but I'm currently selling my house so will be ensuring the next one has somewhere secure to park the bike.
