Hi all,
Got a bit of a weird problem. Tried starting my sv today after a year and a half, didnt work ofcourse tried charging battery, that didnt work, tried jumping it through the car and that didnt work either, checked fuses and one of the main ones were gone, replaced that and managed to start it fine by jumping the batt from the car. The original battery still didnt work. So went to get a new battery from a shop, charged it, and it STILL doesnt work now? Main fuses and fuses in fuse box seem ok. Not getting any electrics on the dash or nothing, completely dead. Any ideas? |

Have you checked fuses or wiring again? the ower surge from the car may have been too much for the wires :P had a similar thing happen to a friends zxr. he melted a few fuses. hth and good luck

Maybe you also have the intermittent or open circuit oxidised pin in green connector issue.

Please be as specific as possible, when some say "It doesn't work" they mean it turns over but won't start, some mean instruments but no starter motor, some mean no lights at all. All lead to different diagnostics, so all the detail you can give helps out

hi all,
I think ive narrowed it down to being the battery not powerful enough or something? The battery I bought is a PowerRoad YT12ABS for £35. Seemed a bit cheap when I bought it, you guys think this batt is not powerful enough, id have thought it could atleast start it? |

The voltage on a fresh battery, either disconnected from the bike, or connected to a bike with the ignition off, and no wiring faults would ideally be about 12.5V. The current that it can deliver at the point that the starter circuit is made, however, is very important.
