Default Recommend me a nice hotel in London.

Just as I relax from Christmas, Valentines comes a-knocking and it's my job to wooo the special lady in my life. I could randomly pick a hotel that looks nice and book it but I'm after recommendations from people that have stayed in a hotel. My 2 requirements are that it's 4-star and it would be nice if it was within suitable distance of the Embankment Pier.

Thanks.

The Grange near Tower Hill is a big hotel where the England Cricket team always stay when they play at the Oval. It's 1 minute walk from Tower Hill tube. Some of the rooms look out over a courtyard, but if you are lucky enough to be the England head coach this is the view you get from your suite at the top of the hotel, and I'm sure the smaller rooms below have a similar outlook. The Embankment is walking distance.

The Embankment may be but its MILES away from the Embankment Pier - its all the way down at Tower Bridge.

Cant help on the Hotel thing tho.

Except to ask why doing exactly the same as 90% of the guys in the country are doing makes it a Special Day, why due to this you should spend way over the odds, and why you need to buy her affection.

And yes, I AM being grumpy

Hi,

I've stayed HERE
It's a Marriott as opposed to something more exclusive, but it's right at the heart of things, and when I went there it was really good. OK I'm easily pleased and was half cut most of the time.

Mr Grumpy SK is right though, it is quite expensive but everything half decent round there is really. Anything not really expensive is really terrible. If you don't spend the money it won't be special, more likely especially dire.

Have a look.

Why does it have to be a good hotel? It's not like you'll be bothered about the view or facilities, you won't leave the bed for two days

The Montague on Ruskin St, just off Russell Square. Very nice. Bit of a hike to the Embankment but that's what the tube and taxis are for.

The Halkin or 41 are great, maybe not close enough. Halkin is pricey but do a trawl on the usual booking sites. The Tower Hotel right next to Tower Bridge is woeful though. That's about all I got but you can have it! If you wanted cheap then I'm told that the Lenny Henry one right net to the Eye is actually pretty good, they're never going to be luxury though.

The link doesn't work for me but I imagine it the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge. I stayed there for a couple of days last year and it's a very funky hotel, if a little expensive. I think the one bed suite room with a terrace was between £300 and £400 a night, you can get a normal room B&B for about £150 though.

Some crap pics from my phone, better sticking to the website photos lol

Don't go to the Cumberland Hotel, opposite Marble Arch. The rooms a really nice, but noisy. The reception area is a work of art, very very modern, but oh so gay Its expensive, but expensive don't necessarily mean good. Breakfast was grand though!

It has Gary Rhodes restaurant incorporated in it.

No idea where it is in relation to where you want to be, but is it very good I suppose for Hyde Park and shopping<<for that bit its important as far as laydeez are concerned

hmmm ok....its not actually bad...so I suppose I'd use it again! haha
