Default Any drum'n'bass/dance/breakbeat lovers on the forum?

I apologise for the shameless self promotion. But are there any drum'n'bass, dance or breakbeat music lovers on the forum? I'm spending an unhealthy amount of time here since I'm liking the characters on this forum muchly, so I thought I'd share one of my other hobbies with you lot.

I've been writing electronic music since I was about 15 ... so that's about ... 15 years. My stuff doesn't generally appeal to the mainstream dnb lover, as I don't really do that hard monotonous dancefloor stuff. I try and be a bit different. Had some success over the years, releasing on a German label (that seems to be my main audience) and had some bootleg plays from a few notable names like Pendulum. For the most part though, I just occupy my own little corner on the web, releasing tracks when I get time to write them, just for fun.

There's somin' for most people, as I don't stick to one style, so if you're interested, my channel can be found here:

A few of my more popular tunes ...

Samurai. A fairly stereo-typical hardish dnb tune.

My personal favourite, melodic dnb, with Romaine:

And another popular chill out tune with vocals. Easy listening dnb.

Right, listen or ignore as you see fit! Hopefully some of you will like what you hear.

Nice one man, prefer the melodic lighter stuff tbh - the harder stuff generally does require some kind of drugs to help make sense of the audio insanity.

I'll have to listen when I get in as no flash support on iPhone - you could maybe post a direct http link & then I can listen while in gym?

P.s. tried playing with reason a few times over the years - lots of well meaning ideas but a lack of musical knowledge does seem to halt any progress once you understand the interface lol..

Morning Im not into hardcore drum n bass as I'm a rock lover and i don't mean any of this emo new age look at me crud, anyway before I lose the plot and start a rant, i could happily have any of those three tracks on in the back ground while I do stuff.

Keep up the good work.

This pleb let his web hosting expire last week. I just renewed it today, so assuming it gets setup properly and my files aren't lost, I'll be able to give you some direct links later.

With regard to Reason mate, I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm stuck in my ways and can't motivate myself to learn new software. If I was learning music from scratch now, I'm sure I'd pack it in very quickly. Lost all my youthful patience. This is what biking is all about: immediacy of enjoyment. Learning to write music? Who can be arsed to do that anymore?

That's good enough for me buddy. My collection is full of Maiden, Metallica, etc too though. Got to love the rock too! I actually had a little rock band going with a few mates before, but apparently playing the guitar well takes a lot of practice, which I never got round to doing. Who'd have thunk it?

Love the Avatar btw.

What do you think of Pendulum? I saw them live in 2009 they were a bit lame which annoying after Zane Lowe biggin them up a lot. Hopefully they will be better now they have more material.

I'll have a listen to them all at some some point, I have on The Soul atm, i'll let you know what I think.

Have you played anywhere, clubs ect is so how did it go down?

Dude you just have to keep trying, I wrote a short film a few years but never finshed the ending lol! I'm not into writing as much kinda fell by the way side along with being into camera work and lighting a lot more. Once you learn the new kit its fine, I have always found that kit may change but how things actually work never do. Though thats coming from the pro cameras.

I'll pass on the music, to some mates who write similar music.

I think Pendulum are very talented. Moving between styles and still being successful? Can't think of many bands/artists that have managed to do that, but I'm not surprised you found them a bit lame. I think they suffer from the "jack of all trades, master of none" syndrome. I find them a bit underwhelming too mate.

Never done live performances though mate. I learnt to mix while I was at uni, but never pursued that side of things. I've only ever done this stuff for fun really. There's no money in it, and I'm not really into the whole dnb image thing anymore. Used too, but I grew up! I just spent all my time behind the computer getting a buzz from making stuff and enjoying it when I'd find the odd person who appreciated it.

Like you though mate, I'm into film as well. Never really made anything, but it does interest me, so much that I bought a Canon XL1s second hand a couple of years back. Could never get my mates interested enough to make films though. I've always been the one of my mates who's up for random creative stuff but nobody else could be arsed! I'm very close to selling that camera though and buying a cam for the bike with some of the money. Seems pointless having this ageing pro-sumer camera which I never use ....

Cheers for listening to the tracks buddy.

Mmm, love DnB, Hardcore/Dirty Dubstep, all that.

I tried listening to those above but gave up after 20s on the first one, as apparently my £5.99 speakers on the office PC doesnt play bass hehe. Will have a listen at home though.

I like a lot of Pendulum material, esp their old school stuff (Minds Eye, Another Planet) which is a lot more my style than the newer stuff. I still like their commercial stuff though (Granite, Witchcraft).
