Default MCN spy pics claptrap.

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...ture-spy-pics/

Funny how in this months issue of 'ride' magazine (which they are part of) has them reviewing the ktm duke in the canaries.

Spy pics my #rse, ktm owners/directors obviously have a villa/base out there during the winter months and are out there holidaying/testing and mcn are out there on a comp.

There was another good one a few weeks back when their Chief Reporter just happened to get the first pics of a new Triumph at some service station or other - what luck! Quite funny really.

Whats the point in putting up a picture & plastering MCN across it so you can't actually see it?

What I find funny is the guy that "discovered" it was classed as a "keen eyed MCN Reader", he must have sent the pictures to MCN & now their covering it with there logo, Haha.

Apparently there are people that stalk the big manufacturers to make money out of photographs of new models. I watched a programme on it.
I live in Crewe, the home of Bentley & when the new "baby Bentley" was being built & tested, they had a specially adapted Audi to test chassis etc, the wheels were massive on it. I did try to get a nosey at it as we used to deliver tools & equipment into them, but you would have had more luck trying to plat fog, it was so secretive.

Well the pictures of the same Daytona the week before were certainly genuine as my wife took them! Spotted it on the A5 near the factory. Got paid for them and also Andy Downes of MCN called me and put me in touch with a German magazine who wanted to print them. Thought that was really decent of him really as I'd presumed that when MCN bought them from me they'd got the copyright too, but he told me to charge the German guy the same price again! Even though the shots were a bit grainy
Happy days.

Some of it is intentional. Triumph has been for the last two years (meant bikes like Daytona R and Speed Triple R could be properly developed)

KTkabooM is deliberate as they've got all the Bike press out there testing the new 690 Duke (Which I'm toying with as the next bike). Same with them letting slip that RC8 will be replaced for 2013 to allow it to compete in WSB (hence the new LC8 motor)

Honda was the same with the NC700 with where it was tested (busy Alps road) and the Fireblade
Its free advertising during development (costs test riders time and petrol).

As Mister C says people follow the testers to snap new bikes (BMW with the new Boxer and F800). I think an orger and a few mates have got MCN in the past

Having met Adam Child a couple of times I can't imagine him simply taking photos and leaving, he'd have gone in search of the rider for a chinwag. Not like a Triumph test ride would be hard to find in a motorway services.
