Hi all,

Picked up a 2004 SV650S yesterday and just looking to start to get to know it better

It's a second bike aimed at a bit of commuting and the odd track day (have an (FZ1S for touring and longer distance stuff).

It's currently pretty much stock so any pointers on mods / tips I should be looking at would be good.

Will be ditching the stock silencer pretty quick and maybe changing sprockets for acceleration, but would be good to know if there's room for more tweaking such as air box mods etc.

Thanks all and nice to be here

Id leave the engine/exhaust alone if it is running well, but the suspension is worth a bit of attention.Front forks----New oil is the cheapest "mod" and springs to suit your weight are a bit dearer but worth it.
Rear------Replacement shock is dear for an aftermarket new one,but makes a big difference. You can go down the route of fitting a used gsxr/zx10 shock which will be much cheaper.A search on here will reveal lots of stuff on that.

Check the TPS http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=55459,
Check throttle body balance,
Check valve clearances.

Oh and if it hasn't got a fender extender , then get and fit one.
