Headlamp bulb fitting
Hi Guys,
I have just received my Philips X-treme Vision H4 bulbs to replaced the undernourished glow-worms fitted as standard. My bike is a 2001 curvy S. This one: SV650S by Andrew Hayes, on Flickr I know this sounds lame, but before I start undoing screws and tugging at expensive plastic, I thought I would ask the collective for an experience download. I saw a tutorial on the job here, but it is for pointies and my plastic looks less convenient than the pointies does for doing the job. All help appreciated |

Mine's a pointy, so I can't help you much I'm afraid.
I checked out some youtube videos to find the best way to do it - after being told that small hands make it easy work, I got my wife to change them for me |

Aye, my concern is that the curvy looks much less convenient to work on than the pointy.

Re: Headlamp bulb fitting
You don't need to remove anything. Turn the steering to one side, crouch down and you'll see the rubber cap and bulb connector, a torch may help. The notes you read for the Pointy are essentially the same as you need for the Curvy, the bulb clip is fiddly, but the job isn't difficult.

Re: Headlamp bulb fitting
Thanks Sid, once I got some light in there and looked around, it turned out to be very a straightforward job. I massaged the rubbers with WD40 after fitting the bulbs and they slipped back on a treat.
Originals were 45/45W and replacements were 55/60W. Hopefully that extra load will not affect the reliability of my charging system. |

Re: Headlamp bulb fitting
As long as the electrical system is working correctly, it will carry the new bulbs just fine.
