Default My new bike - CBR600F

Picked up my new bike on Saturday, a CBR600F.

Pic below was taken on my brother's phone

It's my first time on an IL4, and I'm going to have to get used to where the power is, you can bimble around fairly well at under 6000rpm and the engine seems quiet , but after this..........wow! it really takes off, acceleration is awesome and so is the noise (is this the ram-air?), sounds like a proper race bike!

But it's the suspension I'm most impressed with, it really feels planted, very smooth over bumps compared to the SV, and corners better, really feels solid. It feels smaller too, although I'm 6'3" and I don't feel cramped at all, and the seat is very comfy.

I'd definitely recommend one, seems like it'll be a great all round bike, underseat storage and mirrors which let you see more than just your elbows.

Don't get me wrong I love my SV & I will probably have another in the future, however I'm really happy with the CBR and looking forward to many (safe) riding miles!

The only fly in the ointment is the speedo, it cuts out at around 70-80mph (tested on a private road obviously) and then cuts back in once you drop under this speed. Is this a safety feature installed by the previous owner to make sure he kept within the speed limit? Told the dealer about this after having a quick ride after picking up the bike & he'll take it back in to have a look at it, but wondered if anyone else has come across this? (It's a parallel import, and has got a Datatool System 3 alarm, not sure if these are factors).

Cheers

New to me - but they still make 'em, only major changes are twin headlights & fuel injection.

We've gone in opposite directions then! Agree, I love the SV & will probably have another one, but at the moment enjoying the CBR!

Excellent choice! Um, I would say its a problem with a speedo, my CBR600F certainly doesn't cut out at that speed.

I know what you mean, it bimbles along nicely in the lower revs and then the fun you can have in the higher revs

Do you find you still brace yourself and grit your teeth before hitting a bump as you get ready for the suspension to bottom out only to find nothing happens and you just float over it!

I just can't get out of that habit!

Yup, still doing that! And it's nice to be able to knock it down a few gears without having to worry too much about locking the rear, atlhough I am missing the engine braking.

Did I mention it has a centre stand - not the coolest thing in the world, but will make chain maintenance that little bit easier.

Been out today, still loving it
